Strategy Guide

Overview

Sly cards are played for free when discarded from your hand before end of turn. This build creates a discard engine using Acrobatics, Prepared, and Calculated Gamble to cycle through the deck while triggering Sly cards like Untouchable (free Block), Tactician (free Energy), and Flick-Flack (free damage). The key is keeping the deck thin so you cycle through it multiple times per combat, generating overwhelming free value each turn. Tools of the Trade provides consistent discard every turn.

1

Act 1 — Early Game

Start by removing Strike cards aggressively at shops and events — a thin deck is critical for consistent cycling. Acrobatics is your primary engine: draw 3+, discard 1 to trigger a Sly card. Take Prepared early for free Sly activation at 0 Energy. Untouchable is your core Block card — when discarded, it plays for free as Block. Flick-Flack provides solid early damage even when not discarded, and becomes excellent when triggered via Sly. Look for Dagger Throw as a generically good card that improves with Sly.

2

Act 2 — Mid Game

By Act 2, prioritize finding Tools of the Trade — this Power lets you discard 1 card per turn for free, guaranteeing a Sly trigger every turn. Tactician is critical: when discarded, it grants Energy, enabling you to play even more cards. Speedster provides extra damage while cycling. Calculated Gamble is your panic button — replace your entire hand and trigger ALL Sly cards at once. Reflex gives additional draw when discarded, keeping the cycle going. Begin assembling the Sly trinity: Untouchable for defense, Tactician for Energy, and damage Sly cards.

3

Act 3 — Late Game

With a thin deck (15-18 cards) and Tools of the Trade online, you cycle through your entire deck nearly every turn. Master Planner transforms all non-Sly Skills into Sly cards, dramatically increasing free card plays. Serpent Form is expensive but provides incredible damage output with Sly synergy. Haze adds Poison AoE via Sly for extra damage. Against bosses, the constant free Block from Untouchable and free Energy from Tactician let you play 8-10+ cards per turn while maintaining full defense. Abrasive enhances Block plays and adds Thorns for even more passive damage.

Card Acquisition Priority

必須ピック
Tools of the Trade

Guarantees a free discard (Sly trigger) every turn. The engine that makes the deck consistent.

必須ピック
Tactician

Sly Energy generator. When discarded, grants 1 Energy (2 upgraded). Fuels more card plays each turn.

必須ピック
Acrobatics

Primary draw + discard engine. Draw 3 (4 upgraded), discard 1 to trigger Sly. Essential cycling tool.

必須ピック
Untouchable

Core defensive Sly card. When discarded, provides free Block. Your primary survival tool.

Prepared

0 Energy discard enabler. Draws 1, discards 1. Free Sly activation every time.

Calculated Gamble

Replace entire hand and trigger ALL Sly cards. Devastating combo potential on key turns.

Speedster

Deals damage while cycling. Provides consistent offensive output in the Sly engine.

Flick-Flack

Strong damage card that's even better when triggered by Sly discard.

Flex / Alternative Cards

When core cards aren't available, these alternatives keep the build functional.

Relic Priority

Best Relics
ティンシャ
ティンシャ

Deals damage whenever you discard a card. In a Sly deck, you discard constantly — this adds up to massive free damage.

丈夫な包帯
丈夫な包帯

Gain Block whenever you discard a card. Combined with constant Sly discards, provides excellent passive defense.

そろばん
そろばん

Gain Block whenever you shuffle your draw pile. A thin cycling deck shuffles frequently, stacking free Block.

Good Relics
ヌンチャク
ヌンチャク

Gain Energy after every 3 attacks played. Sly attack cards count, making this trigger frequently.

扇子
扇子

Gain Block after every 3 attacks. Sly attacks trigger this, providing extra defense.

振り子
振り子

Draw a card on shuffle. A fast-cycling deck shuffles often, giving more draw opportunities.

Avoid
ベルベットチョーカー
ベルベットチョーカー

Limits to 6 cards per turn. Sly cards count as plays, so this severely limits the deck's cycling potential.

スネッコアイ
スネッコアイ

Randomizing costs conflicts with the precise Energy management this deck requires.

Cursed Key

Adding Curses bloats the deck and blocks cycling efficiency.

Boss Strategy Tips

Guardian

Your cycling generates consistent damage and Block every turn. Don't over-commit to burst — let the Sly engine grind Guardian down while staying healthy. Untouchable keeps you safe during defensive mode.

Hexaghost

Use turn 1 to set up Tools of the Trade and cycle cards. Calculated Gamble on turn 2 can trigger multiple Sly cards for massive Block against Hexaghost's Inferno.

Slime Boss

The consistent cycling makes it easy to deal steady damage. Use Haze or Speedster Sly triggers for AoE after the split.

Collector

Sly decks shine in longer fights. Set up your engine early and let free Sly cards handle both damage and defense. Tingsha's discard damage hits minions passively.

Time Eater

Dangerous matchup — Sly cards played from discard count toward Time Eater's card limit. Be mindful of total cards played per cycle. Prioritize high-impact Sly triggers over quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Sly keyword do exactly?

Sly is unique to Silent in Slay the Spire 2. If a Sly card is discarded from your hand before the end of your turn, it plays automatically for free. This means discard effects like Acrobatics or Tools of the Trade effectively give you free card plays.

How thin should the deck be?

Aim for 15-18 cards total. A thinner deck means you cycle through it faster, seeing all your Sly cards more often. Remove Strikes and basic Defends aggressively at every opportunity.

Do Sly cards work with Survivor?

Yes! Survivor is a Silent starter card that discards 1 card and gains Block. It's a natural Sly enabler from the very first fight. Keep Survivor in the deck — it's surprisingly valuable in Sly builds.

Is this build better than Shiv or Poison?

Sly has the highest skill ceiling of Silent's archetypes. When piloted well with a thin deck, it generates more free value per turn than Shiv or Poison. However, it's harder to assemble and more punishing if key pieces are missing.

How does Master Planner work with Sly?

Master Planner gives all non-Sly Skill cards the Sly keyword. This means even your basic defensive Skills become free when discarded. It dramatically increases the deck's power but requires good discard management to avoid discarding cards you want to play manually.
